Inspired by vintage military standard-issue boots, the Filson Service Boot is made with oiled, full-grain roughout leather, with a block heel and a versatile Vibram sole. Versatile and hard-wearing, they’re comfortable on-the-job and in-the-field. Goodyear storm welt stitching for years of reliability.
The Filson Service Boots and Service Boots 2 are excellent quality boots. The design is timeless and the materials used are premium quality and the construction appears to be equally premium. I like the full eyelet design as opposed to speed hooks and the lining in the heel and toe areas for a secure fit. The leather is full grain so it's firm but not stiff and will take some time to mold to your feet. Both pairs I purchased from Domestic Domestic are flawless and the Service Boot 2 come with both Taslan and rawhide laces. One note on sizing: I wear an 11 to 11.5 and went with size 12 for these. I'm glad I did because with a medium weight wool sock they leave just enough room for my toes to wiggle, something that important after wearing them for hours and your feet begin to swell a little. So I suggest sizing up a full size from your normal street or dress shoes to accommodate the toe box design.
