I have owned this pack for about 3 weeks and am on my first travel trip with it. This bag is not an everyday carry bag for me, but intended for shorter trips.
I have mostly used a REI Trail 25 for the last 3 years as my hiking bag, that I sometimes tried to use for quick trips. I have really been jonesing for an upgrade that didn’t look so technical, and was geared more specifically to travel, with a clamshell opening. I thought I had found my perfect bag in the Bellroy Transit 28L. I was so excited to receive my bag. It is a gorgeous bad, with premium materials, lovely features like its dedicated tech pouch, all in a very sleek and stylish aesthetic. HOWEVER, it has the most uncomfortable harness system I’ve ever worn in a backpack. The padding on the straps is thin. The straps are so short and taper so severely, that the weight is distributed to the thinnest portion of the straps. Load lifters would really help distribute the weight, but this pack does not have them. If I lengthen the straps, the pack hangs loosely and uncomfortably away from my body. If I tighten the straps for a proper fit, the straps are so tight they dig into my chest. I am 6’1” and 250. The pack size feels perfect for me and the intended purpose of stylish travel, but it is just UNCOMFORTABLE to wear. The straps are just too tapered, short and lack sufficient padding to be comfortable.
I Love that I found it at Domestic Domestic. I don’t blame them for the terrible harness. The DD team did everything right in the purchase, shipping and delivery process!
I am majorly bummed, because I spent about $240 for a bag with a terribly uncomfortable carry. Now I’m back to using my REI Trail 25, but a little poorer.
Beautifully crafted and a very nice addition to anyone’s camping equipment.
