These quarterly edition memo books celebrate three late-season blooms: the purple coneflower, false foxglove, and common chicory. Jennifer Farrell of Starshaped Press drew the trio in the decorative style of early-20th-century "publishers' bindings" and her charming illustrations are delightfully whimsical. Their "burlap" navy covers feature three subtle metallic inks, emulating the texture and finish of dusty, well-worn cloth books.
Like other Field Notes books, these are durable and flexible, bound with three rugged staples and designed to survive any pants pocket. On the first page, you can write in your contact information and, with a sense of humor, indicate whether or not the person who returns your lost book will be rewarded. The last page lists "practical" applications for the memo books such as #2, "Antiquated Sayings." The Field Notes story and data about each flower are also presented. The books are manufactured and printed in the USA, using acid-free paper and soy-based ink.
