When I bought these I was looking for a western style boot with a more understated look. I don't wear big buckles or cowboy hats, but by God I'm in the south and we wear boots! These boots fit the look I'm going for. The roughout leather with a small heel and round toe are simple and understated. I don't do fancy, so I have no need for intricate stitching or anything that can kill bugs cowarding in corners. I own a lot of Redwing boots, and I have fallen in love with the heritage collection. You get the same quality of boot but with the style of a something classier than your average work boot. The leather insole molds to your foot and creates a custom cushion. The shorter shaft makes all-day wear more bearable than traditional western boots, and the roughout leather ages nicely. Much like any suede material there is a little maintenance required, but its worth the investment for a boot that will last long enough to make you feel like you got your money's worth. Be sure to try at least a half size down before you buy. The design of the boot tends to be a little larger than other brands and the leather will stretch a little with time. Invest a little in suede treatment to prevent stains, but don't overdo it. You can tidy them up with a good brush and an eraser, but you definitely want the moisture and oils from your feet to get into the leather. This helps the custom molded to your foot shape you get from this type of boot and the patina of the leather just gets better with each wear. As are all Redwing boots these are very durable. You can do a lot in them, but the warranty isn't the same for the heritage collection and ultimately these boots aren't necessarily intended to do the same job as the other boots no in this collection. However, I do wear mine when I feed the cows and mow the lawn.
