For the Field | Boot Care

As we say goodbye to winter, let's remember a few simple boot care tips. It takes more than 230 steps to hand craft each pair of Red Wing Shoes, but it only takes three steps to keep them clean, conditioned and protected.

STEP 1: CLEANING

Light Cleaning

Use warm water and a soft bristle brush to remove stuck-on dirt. Then use a clean, dry cloth to wipe away any remaining excess dirt.

Deep Cleaning

For heavily soiled areas, use a clean cloth or brush to apply Red Wing Shoes Leather Cleaner. Wipe the cleaner away with a damp cloth and allow the leather to dry.

 STEP 2: CONDITION

Proper conditioning helps preserve the finish and life of your footwear. Use Red Wing's All Natural Boot OilMink Oil or All Natural Leather Conditioner. You can apply these conditioners with your fingers, soft cloth or sponge.

(If you are not wanting to waterproof your  boots, Hubert's Neatsfoot Oil is a great alternative. It conditions the leather, leaving a natural look and feel.)

 STEP 3: PROTECT

Add extra protection to preserve your footwear. Red Wing Leather Protector provides an invisible shield from water, dirt, oil and mud.

"Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you do criticize him, you'll be a mile away and have his shoes." - Steve Martin
